Golf Course Reminders
As we enter peak golf season we would like to remind everyone of some ways to keep our golf course in the best condition possible. The golf and maintenance staff have noticed an increase in ball marks on greens and divots in fairways not being replaced. It is imperative for healthy turf growth for all players to take care of this after each shot.
Course rangers have also noticed players in golf carts consistently ignoring cart traffic signs, parking within 30 feet of the greens, and taking carts off the paths on par 3's. Cart restrictions are in place to keep our rough and green surrounds in the best condition possible, by ignoring these restrictions we get compacted areas which make it very difficult to grow healthy turf. Also please use paths when going from greens to tees. This has been especially noticed on holes 4,9,11,16 where players are parking carts next to the tee instead of keeping on paths and walking up.
We have also begun work to repair the cart path edges with topsoil and hydroseed, please try to avoid riding along the edges so there are little compaction as possible. Using the "90 degree rule" in and out of fairways and onto the path is the best way to accomplish this goal.
It is every member's responsibility to do their part in taking care of the golf course. Rangers will be out to keep an eye on cart usage, and issue warnings to those who are not adhering to rules. Thank you for keeping our course the best we can!
Golf Course Schedule & Projects
Members of Blackhawk Country Club,
This summer has brought consistently hot and humid weather which is not ideal for healthy turf. Moisture levels, disease pressure, grass growth, weed breakthroughs and green speed are all direct reflections of the weather. Our greens have held up quite well considering the conditions. Hopefully in the coming weeks we will break this pattern with cooler non humid weather. There is still a lot of golf season left, please be mindful of that when playing. Please repair your ball marks and fix your divots. This will ensure a better round for you and your fellow members for the rest of the season. Thank you and we look forward to continue making course improvements throughout the summer.
